ive tryed installing a older driver also.

see when you installing drivers do you have to unistall
nvidea stereoscopic 3D driver
and physx driver?

or just the nvidea drivers one (i only did that one)

should i try wiping hard disk and starting fresh?

I would suggest you get something like Driver Cleaner (http://www.drivercleaner.net/) and use that to remove all your old drivers before installing new ones.

You can have problems if you just overwrite old drivers with new ones.

I know its costs to get it but I personally think its worth having in your software arsenal. It's only £6.

im going to try that tomoro.

i think i know the problem tho, i think it doesnt like direct x 10 very much and thats why it keeps crashing.

dunno how to change it to direct x 9 in crysis but going to test it in avatar with direct x 9

you shouldn't have to be setting it to DX9 though, should you. The card should be performing well in DX10. I would be sending it back for a full refund and maybe save up a wee bit more for a newer gen card.

yeah i think ill try that tomoro col, hope they wont be bastards about it, because i bought it on ebay.

i also registerd on the PNY website and thats suppose to give you like 2 years warranty or something

but just tested it on direct x 9 on avartar and it works fine, but still going to call up tomoro

If its a retail outlet using ebay to sell products then you should be able to send it back as faulty and ask for a full refund.

do you get a hissing/whistling noise? I used to have very similar issues and it was more just to do with monitor refresh rates setting incorrectly in game.

Make sure you are getting 60Hz and not 59Hz in Nvidia control panel... let me know if that fixes it.

KD this might be worth a try

9800 gx2 single card

1. Download nHancer 2.5.7.
2. Create a new profile in nHancer, Select the executable of the DVD program in nHancer, set the SLI rendering mode to single GPU.
3. Select "This profile can be activated manually"
4. Activate the profile through the nHancer taskbar icon whenever you want to watch a DVD

There is no sli mode for single card there is dual gpu mode and that is what I'm running on my 295

Multi-GPU mode = SLI. The rendering mode (AFR/AFR2/SFR) can also be changed around just like a normal SLI setup.

Just read this on Extremen overclocking forum
